Zone of Assimilation

The area spreading southwest from New Street Station to the Mailbox and Broad Street is undergoing extensive building work, redevelopment and regeneration.  Many of the new developments are for residential use, with luxury high-rise apartments starting to dominate the skyline of this part of Birmingham CBD.

This view from the Mailbox taken in 2006 shows the initial demolition and building for the John Rocha Apartment Building.
This second image taken in early 2008 shows the completed flats, but from the reverse angle.

The Radisson Hotel building is the latest addition to the Birmingham Skyline.  Teh glass struture is 39 storeys high, and now dominates the view as you arrive into the CBD from the south along the A38.
