Zone of Assimilation
The area surrounding Broad Street to the west of the CBD used to be dominated by industrial development centred around the canals and the Gas Street Basin. The canals are now a focal point for leisure and tourism, with a large number of hotels, retaurants and bars occupying the buildings along the canal sides. In addition, Brindley Place is a centre for commercial development, and the NIA and Symphony Hall are all part of this flagship redevelopment area.
